About the Role
As Sr. Product Manager, Fund Management, you will own the product vision, roadmap, and delivery for the Fund Management squad. This cross-functional team is accountable for transforming how Purpose runs its investment fund operations, moving fund accounting, performance, trading operations, and data onto a single governed platform. This role requires building a roadmap rather than executing a predefined one.
Responsibilities
- Translate product vision and strategy into an actionable, sequenced roadmap across the master-data spine and the valuation, activity, investor, and disclosure pipelines.
- Partner with investment operations, fund accounting, data engineering, and compliance to deeply understand workflows, source systems, and regulatory constraints.
- Decide what gets built and in what order, picking high-leverage workstreams and sequencing them deliberately.
- Define and prioritize requirements that meet operational, regulatory, and analytical standards.
- Write clear, detailed user stories and acceptance criteria for engineering execution.
- Pressure-test major design decisions, documenting alternatives, assumptions, and validation criteria.
- Act as a close partner to engineering and data leads on priorities and trade-offs, leading planning and review sessions.
- Track delivery against clear, business-language measures of success and report progress to stakeholders.
- Own the outcome of a daily NAV that is correct, delivered on time, observable, and defensible across more than 100 funds, replacing manual checks with automated assertions.
- Own a single surface for fund performance calculations (returns, attribution, peer comparisons, AUM and flow time series) for any fund, series, or period, consolidating work across parallel analytics tools.
- Own the primary record of fund holdings, positions, NAVs, flows, and activity events that serve as the foundation for fund accounting and performance.
- Define the vision and roadmap for the master-data source and pipelines (valuation and NAV, activity, investor, disclosure, and tax) that bring raw feeds into governed schemas.
- Establish better ways for external stakeholders to access funds, creating seamless experiences for subscriptions and trading.
- Own the lineage that makes every fund number traceable to its source, providing an auditable path for regulators, auditors, advisors, and investors.
Requirements
- Meaningful experience in asset management, fund operations, or fund accounting, or a closely adjacent domain.
- Understanding of NAV, fund flows, performance and attribution, the roles of custodians, transfer agents, and sub-advisors, and Canadian fund manager disclosure and regulatory obligations.
- Understanding of what a book of record is and the significance of a NAV error.
- Ability to identify problems worth solving before defining solutions.
- Clear point of view on prioritization, defensible with data and evidence.
- Comfortable saying no when capacity demands it.
- Ability to have intelligent conversations with engineers about data models, pipelines, schema design, or system integration.
- Understanding of data architecture to ask the right questions and make informed trade-offs.
- Ability to build trust quickly with engineering, operations, compliance, and senior leaders.
- Ability to align diverse groups around a shared direction without formal authority.
- Comfortable pushing back when evidence supports a different view.
- Actively look for opportunities to use AI and automation to replace manual checks, automate validation and reconciliation, and make fund data observable and self-monitoring.
- Understanding of the evolving role of a PM in an AI-first product team.
- Ability to write clearly and concisely, with specific user stories and unambiguous product briefs.
- Reasoning that is defensible by construction.
- Direct and evidence-based stakeholder updates.
- Applicants must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
- Immigration sponsorship is not offered for this role.
