About the Role
The Benefits Coordinator is a foundational role within the Total Rewards team, serving as the operational support engine for Riot’s benefits functions. This position is designed for an early-career professional eager to grow their expertise across the Total Rewards landscape.
Responsibilities
- Support the Benefits & Compensation Specialist in coordinating the benefits lifecycle, from new hire enrollment to life event changes and terminations.
- Respond to foundational benefit questions regarding medical, dental, vision, and retirement plans.
- Assist in reconciling monthly benefit invoices and coordinating with vendors to resolve eligibility or enrollment discrepancies.
- Provide support during annual open enrollment, assisting with data testing, material distribution, and employee help desk coverage.
- Support the administration of ancillary programs such as wellness initiatives, commuter benefits, and tuition reimbursement.
- Create clear, compelling benefits communications that increase employee awareness and engagement.
- Assist with leave of absence administration in partnership with vendors.
- Provide backup support for the broader Total Rewards team as needed.
- Help maintain and update standard operating procedures (SOPs) for Total Rewards workflows.
- Assist the team in generating basic reports and performing data audits to ensure system health across all Total Rewards platforms.
- Collaborate with payroll to communicate leave-of-absence status changes and ensure deductions are applied accurately and on time.
Requirements
- 1+ year of professional experience in an HR or Benefits capacity.
- Exposure to employee benefit programs (Medical, 401(k), etc.).
- Strong desire to learn the "how-to" of Total Rewards and a commitment to operational excellence.
- Ability to spot errors in data and a commitment to maintaining accurate records.
- Professional and empathetic communication style when helping employees with sensitive benefit questions.
- Experience with Microsoft Excel (filters, basic formulas) and an interest in learning complex systems.
- Ability to thrive in a non-exempt environment by managing time effectively and meeting strict deadlines.
