About the Role
The Network Engineer's role is to ensure the stability and integrity of in-house voice, data, video, and wireless network services by planning, designing, and developing LANs and WANs across the organization. This includes installation, monitoring, maintenance, support, and optimization of network hardware, software, and communication links, as well as analyzing and resolving network issues.
Responsibilities
- Configures and deploys LANs, WANs, and wireless networks, including firewalls, routers, switches, and wireless hardware.
- Configures networking devices to ensure smooth and reliable operation for business objectives.
- Creates and maintains documentation for network configuration, mapping, processes, and service records.
- Ensures network connectivity for all servers, workstations, telephony equipment, fax machines, and other network appliances.
- Participates in managing all network security solutions.
- Performs system backups and recovery.
- Configures and implements new and existing equipment, hardware, and performs software and hardware upgrades.
- Performs security audits, system backups and recovery.
Requirements
- An Associate's Degree in Computer Science (or related discipline) and/or minimum equivalent experience of six or more years working in an IT environment.
- Minimum of three years related work experience in Casino, Hospitality, Banking or Entertainment industry or other high volume, complex, demanding customer oriented IT environment.
- Expert knowledge of Networking Concepts, such as Transmission Control Protocol, Internet Protocol, Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol, IP Addressing, Variable Length Subnet Masks, Remote Access, cabling systems, wiring topologies, and security.
- Proven experience with Extreme networking or SPBm.
- Proven experience with enterprise wireless solutions.
- Proven experience and success with LAN, WAN, and WLAN design and implementation.
- Proven experience with network capacity planning, network security principles, and general network management best practices.
- Working technical knowledge of current network hardware, protocols, and Internet standards, including (OSPF, BGP, DNS, DHCP, NTP).
- Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
- Ability to present ideas in user-friendly language.
- Highly self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail.
- Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to effectively prioritize tasks in a high-pressure environment.
- Strong customer service orientation.
- Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
- Flexible and willingness to be on call 24/7.
