About the Role

The Production Supervisor leads and coordinates daily manufacturing operations in a specialty chemical plant, ensuring production goals are met safely, efficiently, and to quality standards. This role supervises production employees, monitors workflow, drives continuous improvement, and ensures compliance with policies and regulations, acting as a key link between management and the production team.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and coordinate daily production activities to meet production schedules and customer demand.
  • Monitor production performance and adjust resources to achieve efficiency targets.
  • Ensure production processes operate in accordance with established procedures and standards.
  • Minimize downtime through proactive problem-solving and coordination with support departments.
  • Review production reports and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Supervise, coach, and develop production employees, including disciplinary action.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing feedback.
  • Promote employee engagement, teamwork, and accountability.
  • Manage employee attendance, scheduling, and workforce planning.
  • Assist in hiring, onboarding, and training new employees.
  • Promote and maintain a strong safety culture.
  • Ensure compliance with all company safety policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct safety meetings, audits, and incident investigations.
  • Identify and correct unsafe conditions and behaviors.
  • Ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Ensure products meet quality standards and customer specifications.
  • Investigate quality issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with Quality personnel to maintain compliance with quality systems.
  • Monitor scrap, rework, and defect rates and drive improvements.
  • Identify opportunities to improve productivity, quality, safety, and cost performance.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Lead problem-solving activities and root-cause analyses.
  • Implement process improvements that enhance operational efficiency.
  • Communicate production goals, priorities, and expectations to employees.
  • Coordinate with Maintenance, Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, and Management teams.
  • Participate in production meetings and provide operational updates.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports related to production activities.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 3–5 years of manufacturing experience required.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment.
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, and climbing.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to wear required PPE and work around production equipment.

Skills

  • Strong leadership and employee development skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and production systems.
  • Problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and manufacturing software systems.
  • Understanding of Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement principles.

Experience Level

  • Minimum of 1–3 years of supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
  • Experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment strongly preferred.

Education Level

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Business, Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field preferred.
  • Will consider education in progress.

Salary/Compensations

  • $63,000. - $106,000.
