About the Role

The a16z crypto team is seeking an Events Associate to manage and execute high-touch experiences from concept to completion. This role will oversee key aspects of event planning, ensuring seamless execution and exceptional attendee experiences in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with the Events Manager to plan and execute large-scale external events for the a16z crypto Marketing team, including events like F1, Consensus, Token2049, and Korea Blockchain Week.
  • Manage the 12-week summer program for the Research team, including the development and execution of a curated hospitality program.
  • Oversee the full production of premium branded goods for special projects and events, such as custom VIP kits, welcome kits, and event gifting suites.
  • Lead private dining and salon-style hospitality events.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with executives, GTM teams, Regulatory/Policy, Research, and the Investment Team to ensure seamless event and programming execution.
  • Partner with events colleagues across the firm to drive firm-wide visibility and alignment for all events.
  • Manage systems and reporting for production trackers, event plans, and event communications.
  • Work with internal stakeholders and external vendors to produce event collateral, registration materials, signage, and other guest-facing assets.
  • Oversee the team's event inventory to ensure materials are organized, accessible, and ready for seamless execution.

  • Willingness to be both an event creator and hands-on executor, with a collaborative, low-ego approach.
  • High integrity and sound judgment, with the ability to handle confidential information discreetly.
  • Demonstrated ability to anticipate needs, solve problems proactively, and make thoughtful decisions in fast-paced, high-visibility environments.
  • Minimum 4–6 years of experience producing events, including large-scale conferences, summits, and executive experiences.
  • Proven experience managing event budgets, vendor relationships, contract negotiations, and production partners (staffing, security, AV, lighting, technical components).
  • Superior project management skills with the ability to balance multiple priorities, deadlines, and stakeholders.
  • Highly organized and process-oriented, with the ability to build structure, improve workflows, and learn new systems and tools.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally (approximately 30%) to support onsite event execution.
