About the Role

As a Regional Disaster Officer, you will oversee the implementation of the volunteer-led disaster cycle services program throughout the region, ensuring communities are prepared to respond to disasters. Regional disaster employees are required to deploy to disaster relief operations outside of their region at least once a year for skill building and career development.

Responsibilities

  • Direct an employee and diverse volunteer team responsible for the implementation of volunteer-led disaster services programming.
  • Ensure disaster services are delivered in a rapid, accessible, and equitable manner, both culturally and linguistically.
  • Oversee the successful implementation of the entire disaster cycle services program in alignment with Fundamental Principles and established program standards.
  • Champion and drive the development of regional Disaster Leadership Volunteers.
  • Lead regional efforts to prepare and mobilize communities and engage partners to prepare for, respond to, and recover from disasters and emergencies.
  • Build relationships and collaborate in a matrix management environment with internal partners.
  • Act as the regional disaster leader and Red Cross disaster subject matter expert.
  • Initiate, scale, coordinate and manage disaster relief operations in the region.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
  • Minimum 7 years of related experience.
  • 5 years of management experience of paid or volunteer workforce.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Travel may be required.
  • Ability to work outside of regular duty hours including nights and weekends.
