About the Role

Waterview Hills Campus is seeking a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join their team. This role involves establishing and performing treatment programs for residents in a long-term care facility, focusing on providing the highest quality care and resident experience.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and perform treatment programs for assigned residents.
  • Upgrade goods as appropriate and physician order recommendations.
  • Enter billing information in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Report resident progress in meetings, such as Medicare A Meetings.
  • Consult with other members of the rehabilitation team to coordinate occupational therapy with other therapeutic activities.
  • Provide residents with equipment as appropriate and inform Social Services of equipment needs at discharge.
  • Requisition supplies and equipment.
  • Design and construct special equipment for individuals and suggest adaptation of individual’s living environment.
  • Lay out materials for individual’s use and return equipment to appropriate place.
  • Conduct training programs for other workers/families in occupational therapy techniques and objectives for resident care.
  • Chart notes in an informative and descriptive manner that reflects the therapy provided to the residents as well as the resident’s response to the therapy.
  • Perform routine documentation as required and in accordance with established charting and documentation policies and procedures.
  • Sign and date all entries made in resident’s medical record.
  • Follow all facility policies and procedures.
  • Perform other related duties as required and assigned.

Requirements

  • Trained and licensed, meeting the qualifications set forth by the NYS Board of Education and the NYS Rules and Regulation requirements.
  • Graduate of an approved Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant Program.
  • Training certification by the AOTCB and current licensure in good standing with the NYS Board of Education.
  • Candidate will have the physical ability to perform job related duties, which may require lifting, bending, stooping, stretching, pulling and pushing up to 50lbs or more as needed.
  • Work well under pressure.
  • Willing to work harmoniously with all staff.
  • Sincere desire to work with the elderly, chronically ill, and handicapped.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Must be able to communicate well verbally with residents, families and staff.
  • Treat residents and fellow staff with respect, dignity, and compassion.
