About the Role

The Senior Project Manager is responsible for the overall direction, planning, coordination, implementation, execution and management of medium to complex projects, ensuring adherence to scope, schedule, and budgets. This role focuses on project management in the pre-sales and early post-sales phases of large-scale engagements and involves coaching less experienced project managers. A significant portion of time (70%) will be customer-facing, and the role contributes to Project Management Office strategy and standards development.

Responsibilities

  • Partners with customers and internal business leaders to deliver services supporting company objectives and values.
  • Contributes to the PMO knowledge base of tools, processes, and standards.
  • Facilitates the investigation, analysis, and remediation of issues and risks in strategic accounts.
  • Leads project planning and implementation throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Oversees the review of project scope, goals, and deliverables.
  • Develops project task lists, risk/issue/action logs, contact lists, and project plans.
  • Assembles and coordinates project resources, including internal, external, and third parties.
  • Manages project budget, resource allocation, project plans, trackers, and timelines.
  • Tracks and advises on project deliverables and tasks using appropriate tools.
  • Owns and resolves project issues and drives risk mitigation.
  • Drives team accountability for project results, ensuring projects stay on budget, on schedule, and maintain client satisfaction.
  • Communicates project scope, tasks, deliverables, goals, resources, schedules, and budgets to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Communicates expectations to stakeholders and teams, gaining acceptance and accomplishing business objectives.
  • Identifies required resources for project delivery and collaborates to schedule workload and make assignments.
  • Works with the resource management group to drive efficiencies in third-party project delivery.
  • Oversees coordination of products and related issues with customer and internal teams.
  • Provides status reporting on project progress, issues, and mitigations.
  • Escalates project-related issues/risks impacting the project negatively to management.
  • Ensures timely and accurate entry of project team timecards, expense reports, status reports, issue documentation, trackers, plans, and documentation into company systems.
  • Obtains client sign-off on the Project Completion Form.
  • Performs invoicing and project closure functions, including sending and following up on Customer Satisfaction Surveys.
  • Mentors team members in leadership, methodology, tools, people skills, and navigating difficult customer environments.
  • Conducts mid-project checks and after-action meetings for continual improvement.
  • Turns around underperforming projects to meet company expectations.
  • Embraces and supports Computacenter's mission and core values.

Requirements

  • Minimum 7-10 years’ experience in Project Management within the IT industry.
  • Legally eligible to work in the United States.
  • Expert knowledge of both theoretical and practical aspects of project management.
  • Expert knowledge of project management techniques and tools.
  • Direct work experience in a project management capacity.
  • Proven ability to motivate and build strong teams.
  • Experience coaching and mentoring.
  • Excellent customer interfacing skills.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proven experience in effective meeting facilitation.
  • Proven experience in people management.
  • Proven experience in issue & risk management.
  • Proven ability to multi-task, stay organized, and work efficiently.
  • Proven ability to work independently, as well as with peers.
  • Proven ability to problem solve and perform analysis.
  • Strong knowledge of technical concepts, terms and practices used in the assessment and implementation of IT Infrastructure and Services.

Skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Project.
  • Smartsheet proficiency is a plus.
  • PMP and/or PRINCE2 certification is a plus.
  • Proficient in project management software.
