About the Role
Join our Engineering Platforms team as a Software Engineer, delivering a modern software development tools chain for engineers across the bank. This role involves designing, producing, testing, and implementing software throughout its lifecycle, honing your skills and advancing your career.
Responsibilities
- Design, produce, test, and implement working software across the system lifecycle.
- Develop knowledge of the associated platform across business, applications, data, and infrastructure disciplines.
- Liaise with principal engineers, architects, and stakeholders to understand platform functionality and business support.
- Apply Agile methods to software development on the backlog.
- Produce resilient and long-lived software, acting flexibly for future needs.
- Deliver intentional architecture and formulate emergent design through innovation, experimentation, and prototyping.
- Design and develop software with a focus on automating build, test, and deployment activities using executable patterns.
- Proactively identify and resolve inefficiencies, driving process optimization and automation initiatives.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of advancements in Artificial Intelligence, including Large Language Models (LLMs) and related tooling, and leverage insights to enhance productivity and innovation.
Requirements
- Strong full stack experience in software design and implementation.
- Capability in complex requirements analysis, capture, and validation against business and systems requirements.
- Experience leading the implementation of programming best practices, especially around scalability, automation, virtualisation, optimisation, availability, and performance.
- Sound collaboration skills with the ability to work with business teams to produce pragmatic solutions.
- Strong understanding of designing scalable, maintainable, extensible systems by applying best practices in software architecture.
- Skilled at leveraging language-specific strengths across multiple languages (Java, Python, JavaScript) for designing solutions, reviewing clean code, optimising testability and performance.
- Demonstrated experience with information security policies, managing vulnerabilities and practices specific to the financial sector, ensuring compliance and risk mitigation.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, able to translate complex technical concepts into clear, accessible language for diverse audiences.
