About the Role

The Director, Event Technology III (DET III) leads a sales and operations team to achieve revenue and profitability goals for assigned locations. This role ensures World-Class service delivery and cultivates key venue relationships to enhance business partnerships. The DET III promotes high performance, accountability, and continuous improvement in a collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships at all organizational levels, providing outstanding customer service and focusing on retention.
  • Service high-profile/visibility events and act as a point of escalation when needed.
  • Identify key issues and decision-makers influencing contract renewals and leverage internal resources for renewal planning.
  • Partner with Venue Sales Leadership on sales strategies.
  • Create and participate in business review presentations.
  • Manage an efficient and profitable operation focused on revenue maximization and profitability through cost control measures.
  • Ensure event profitability is maintained through proper staffing.
  • Achieve financial goals for the location(s) by effectively managing labor, equipment sub-rentals, and other costs.
  • Train and direct operations and sales managers to complete standard and ad hoc reports.
  • Complete and analyze reports to effectively manage the business.
  • Enforce the utilization of the company billing system, coordinate invoicing, and ensure client approval of billing.
  • Review location P&L and develop action plans to address deficiencies and grow the business.
  • Confirm venue partners process all payments to Encore in a timely manner.
  • Oversee the strategic, long-term direction of large and small high-tech, high-volume events.
  • Direct the operations team to manage daily floor operations, including scheduling, equipment setups, operation, and strikes according to brand standards.
  • Ensure the operations team uses inventory control procedures to maintain proper inventory levels while upholding safety, security, and quality assurance of equipment.
  • Efficiently share labor and equipment within the local market.
  • Guarantee an Encore management presence at all venue meetings.
  • Analyze schedules and available labor and equipment resources, making recommendations for labor and equipment sharing within local markets.
  • Act as a technical support resource or escalation point for sales and operations leadership.
  • Ensure staff understands the technical aspects of their jobs.
  • Effectively utilize applicable company computer systems.
  • Hold the Sales Team accountable for maintaining a healthy pipeline to achieve revenue targets.
  • Confirm all known opportunities are accurately entered and updated in CRM.
  • Lead sales forecasting efforts at home location(s), ensuring accuracy and timely submission.
  • Create and present performance, pipeline, and forecasting reports to senior management as needed.
  • Maintain knowledge of new product/service offerings and emerging technology supporting meetings and events.
  • Deliver World-Class Service by cultivating and maintaining relationships with customers, venue personnel, and Encore supporting functions.
  • Lead the team to exceed internal and external customer expectations.
  • Meet with guests on-site or assign team members to verify equipment setup and functionality, and monitor events.
  • Enforce Employee Guide and/or venue standards for professional image.
  • Promote a culture of high performance, accountability, and continuous improvement.

  • Manage performance, address employee concerns, maintain adequate staffing, and facilitate team development.
  • Navigate union labor markets and associated management dynamics, where applicable.
  • Manage human resources activities including selection, performance management, and learning.
  • Provide focused and continued coaching to develop team members' skills.
  • Verify employees are trained on Encore standards for service, equipment, and company computer systems.
  • Recommend team members for training opportunities.
  • Ensure Encore's D,E &I initiatives are implemented.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree is preferred or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of audio visual experience.
  • 3+ years of operations supervisory/management experience.
  • 3+ years of customer service or hospitality experience.
  • Sales experience is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of audio-visual equipment in a live show environment.
  • Ops 200 & Leadership 200 Certification.
  • Proficiency with computer hardware.
  • Proficiency with computer software and programs, including the Internet and Microsoft Office.
  • Effective leadership abilities and customer satisfaction and people development focus.
  • A valid driver’s license is required for team members who may operate Company vehicles.
