About the Role
Spot & Tango is seeking a highly analytical Senior Financial Analyst to join its growing Finance team. This role offers meaningful ownership, broad business exposure, and the opportunity to help build a best-in-class finance organization within a fast-paced, high-growth e-commerce startup. The position extends beyond traditional FP&A, involving strategic work in areas like capital allocation, pricing, and fundraising support.
Responsibilities
- Support annual budgeting, long-range planning, and rolling forecast processes.
- Analyze monthly financial performance, identify key business drivers, risks, and opportunities.
- Partner with Accounting during month-end close, including supporting accruals, reconciliations, and flux analysis.
- Meet with cross-functional leaders to review results, update forecasts, and identify efficiency improvements.
- Build and maintain financial models for customer acquisition, retention, marketing, operating expenses, headcount, and cash flow.
- Steward HQ G&A expenses across all functions.
- Co-lead budget-vs-actual and forecast-vs-actual review meetings with department leaders.
- Support strategic decision-making with relevant data and analysis.
- Build scenario analyses and business cases for commercial decisions.
- Challenge assumptions and influence decisions through rigorous analysis.
- Provide ad hoc financial analysis and decision support for strategic initiatives.
- Build models and analyses supporting strategic initiatives, potential transactions, and due diligence.
- Deliver financial insights impacting cross-functional priorities.
- Utilize Excel, AI-enabled tools, and BI platforms to enhance reporting.
- Support preparation of executive, board, and lender reporting materials.
- Contribute to ad hoc strategic projects and cross-functional initiatives.
- Support Finance transformation initiatives by improving models, reporting processes, and automation.
Requirements
- 2–5 years of experience in investment banking, management consulting, private equity, venture capital, strategic finance, corporate finance, or FP&A.
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, or another quantitative discipline.
- Exceptional financial modeling and analytical skills, with demonstrated experience building complex models and working with large datasets.
- Strong grasp of financial statements and accounting fundamentals.
- Intellectual curiosity and a drive to understand the 'why' behind the numbers.
- Organized, detail-oriented, and committed to producing high-quality work.
- Advanced Excel proficiency.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate financial concepts for non-financial audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to independently structure ambiguous problems and manage competing priorities.
