About the Role

The Medical Health Associates of WNY (MHA) is seeking Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) to provide high-quality care to pediatric, adolescent, and young adult patients in an office setting, helping them pursue a healthy future.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate customer satisfaction through positive interactions with patients, parents, providers, colleagues, and other members of the patient care team.
• Provide and assist with direct patient care including exam/procedure prep, screenings, initial assessments, patient exams, and clinical procedures.
• Administer and document medications, immunizations, and obtain specimens as ordered by providers.
• Assist providers with clinical procedures and conduct catheterizations.
• Administer nebulizer treatment and obtain respiratory rate, pulse ox, pulmonary functions, and peak flow meter.
• Respond promptly and professionally to emergency situations.
• Assist with stocking supplies and cleaning/preparing rooms and equipment.
• Schedule visits that are timely, appropriate, and sensitive to patient needs.
• Gather patient information by telephone and prepare/review patient records.
• Communicate with parents/patients regarding visit questions, follow-up instructions, or scheduling.
• Provide health education information and health teaching to parents/patients.
• Accurately communicate necessary information to pharmacies per provider.
• Participate in quality assurance/quality improvement programs.
• Attend and participate in required in-service and mandatory meetings.
• Support change and new programs to improve patient care and staff morale.
• Coordinate care with disease management as directed by providers.
• Perform, record, and report laboratory tests while maintaining universal precautions and infection control precautions.
• Protect the privacy and security of confidential and sensitive patient information.
• Assist with training and serve as a resource for other staff.
• Perform any other tasks as assigned by the nurse manager, or as directed by a provider.

Requirements

• Graduate of an approved program for Licensed Practical Nurse.
• Current NYS Licensure and registration required.
• Current CPR Certification.
• One year experience preferred in pediatric, clinical, or office nursing.
• Basic computer literacy.
• Proficiency with medical record technology.
• MEDENT experience/knowledge preferred.
