About the Role

The Senior Technical Designer role involves collaborating closely with cross-functional teams, interpreting design concepts, and assisting with the transition of works into realization. You will be responsible for building and outputting technical drawings with accurate specifications and to the Echo House standards, ensuring they are clear and facilitate a seamless flow of works through our production line. The role includes attending site on occasion to conduct surveys and provide assistance with installation.

Responsibilities

  • Develop conceptual ideas into manufacturable technical solutions.
  • Create technical drawings for client and store approval.
  • Create manufacturing drawings for internal and external production.
  • Create production files for project components.
  • Collaborate with fabrication and estimation teams to propose optimal solutions within project constraints.
  • Communicate clearly with project and fabrication managers, and artworkers to ensure smooth project execution and quality.
  • Manage allocated design projects from CAD build and presentation through to realization.
  • Produce technical drawings from buildable CAD models.
  • Create production-ready files for CNC, Laser, 3D Print, Vac Form, Metalwork, and Artworking.
  • Collaborate with Creative Designers to ensure accurate translation of designs into technical models.
  • Join forces with fellow Technical Designers for larger projects and to provide assistance.
  • Carry out site surveys and assist with installations.
  • Communicate technical designs through presentations to Project Managers, clients, and the wider team.
  • Mentor junior members of the team.
  • Follow and promote health and safety procedures and protocols.
  • Follow and promote Echo’s sustainability policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Excellent Solidworks knowledge.
  • Adobe Creative Suite knowledge.
  • Excellent understanding in deciphering technical packs submitted from external sources.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to communicate with different counterparts (project managers, fabrication, clients...).
  • Knowledge of materials and media with an emphasis on sustainability.
  • Excellent time management.
  • Excellent organisational skills.
  • Individual diligence with a focus on team participation.
  • Level-headed approach to demanding circumstances.
  • Good leadership skills.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to clearly communicate instructions to a team.
  • Flexibility and willingness to provide practical support where necessary.
  • A quick learner with a positive approach.
