About the Role
The Continuous Improvement Engineer facilitates and leads initiatives to drive measurable cost savings across labor, materials, and yield. This role partners with stakeholders to identify opportunities, develop project plans, and implement solutions that enhance safety, quality, delivery, and cost performance, supporting the site's strategic objective of expanding the BD Production System (BD Excellence).
Responsibilities
- Lead and execute continuous improvement projects focused on improving production flow, reducing waste, and increasing operational efficiency.
- Facilitate rapid improvement events (Kaizen) by engaging cross-functional teams and manufacturing associates.
- Conduct audits of daily startup Tier meetings and Gemba Walks to ensure adherence to operational excellence standards.
- Lead medium to large-scale capital improvement projects.
- Facilitate or co-facilitate BD Excellence review meetings.
- Identify, develop, and implement standardized processes throughout the facility.
- Analyze processes and data to identify opportunities for cost reduction and performance improvement.
- Collaborate with operations, quality, engineering, and other functional teams to drive sustainable improvements.
- Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or another technical field of study; OR Minimum of five (5) years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience leading continuous improvement initiatives and implementing cost-saving improvements in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience in one or more of the following areas: Project Management, Value Stream Leadership, Production Leadership, Quality, Change Management.
- Hands-on experience with problem-solving methodologies, continuous improvement tools, and root cause analysis.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Visio.
- Basic knowledge of ERP systems used for data extraction (e.g., SAP, JDE).
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and deliver results on time and within budget.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced, matrixed environment.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to influence teams without direct authority.
- Ability to effectively collaborate with all levels of the organization.
