About the Role
The Phlebotomists/Processor collects and processes laboratory specimens using Sunquest 8.1.
Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture, capillary punctures, and specimen collection with 99%+ accuracy.
- Collect urine drug screens, complete chain of custody forms, and requisitions accurately.
- Ensure proper patient identification, specimen handling, and labeling for testing.
- Verify and complete billing information, and store specimens at correct temperatures.
- Proficient in PCR nasopharyngeal swabs and POCT testing (Level III).
- Retrieve, process, and prepare specimens in Sunquest 8.1 for transport.
- Organize specimen flow within PSC/IOP and assist with related problem-solving.
- Operate and maintain equipment, perform inventory checks, and restock supplies.
- Provide courteous customer service, assist in training, and follow regulatory and safety standards.
- Perform additional duties as requested.
Requirements
- Must be a high school graduate or equivalent.
- Must have recent phlebotomy training or experience, with at least 50 venipunctures completed.
- Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Must be able to stand the majority of the shift.
- Will have exposure to biohazard substances and hazardous chemicals.
- Be familiar with and adhere to safety, ergonomic and health policies of the Company.
- Comply with all PPE requirements when in the laboratory or other biohazard areas.
- Complete required safety training and health evaluations in a timely manner.
- Anticipate safety hazards, act upon unsafe situations and promote safety awareness.
