About the Role

Lead the Test Automation Infrastructure team within the Simulation, Integration and Test Department, driving innovation and efficiency in spacecraft testing. This management role involves hands-on contribution, code review, and direct ownership of software products and infrastructure critical for spacecraft integration and test campaigns.

Responsibilities

• Manage a team of 5-7 engineers, providing leadership, tasking, technical direction, career growth, and performance management.
• Set priorities across multiple products, working through engineering leads, and scale the team structure.
• Contribute code directly to focused work and review engineers' code.
• Lead the design, development, delivery, maintenance, and support of multiple products.
• Own product roadmaps and release cadence, aligning them with internal customer roadmaps.
• Communicate status, risks, and trade-offs clearly to SIT leadership and stakeholders.
• Collaborate with internal and external teams dependent on product stability.
• Design trainings for test infrastructure for specific stakeholders.
• Identify opportunities to improve test effectiveness, execution efficiency, reliability, observability, and automation coverage.
• Perform troubleshooting and debugging of SIT tests and CI/CD infrastructure.
• Maintain and develop a Python framework for communication with embedded flight software.
• Interact with stakeholders and customers to gather feedback and requirements.
• Manage and monitor releases to ensure product stability for deployments.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of professional software development experience.
• Demonstrated proficiency in Python and C++.
• Demonstrated proficiency with bash/shell scripting.
• Experience leading others in software development (manager, technical lead, or both).
• Experience designing, building, deploying, and operating software applications in a production environment.
• Strong communication skills and ability to set priorities across concurrent products and stakeholders.
• Experience writing test documentation (test plans, procedures, reports, defect records).
• Capable of managing multiple tasks and delivering according to program milestones and release commitments.
• Experience with integrating C/C++ into Python (preferred: CPython or SWIG).
• Experience optimizing Python applications for memory usage in constrained environments.
• Experience interpreting raw data from bytes into human-readable formats using an interface database.
