About the Role
An opportunity to join Western Union as a Counsel in Business Legal Affairs and play a key role in helping a NYSE listed organization navigate commercial and corporate law by supporting strategic initiatives and business operations across Asia Pacific (APAC).
Responsibilities
- Provide primary responsibility for certain workstreams and support other team members.
- Manage day-to-day legal matters for business in specific countries or territories.
- Act as legal lead on distinct projects.
- Manage legal aspects of interactions with third parties, including regulators.
- Provide legal support to other stakeholders and functions across the region.
- Deliver timely and commercial legal and regulatory support for BAU operations and new initiatives.
- Partner with business leaders to execute company strategic priorities.
- Review, draft, and negotiate agreements for Western Union Consumer Money Transfer, Payments, and Digital.
- Provide legal advice in connection with agreement reviews, drafting, and negotiations.
- Review and advise on new and existing business requirements.
- Drive end-to-end customer value.
- Display a customer-first orientation.
Requirements
- 6+ years of financial services experience in an international law firm or corporate legal department of a multi-national corporation.
- Good communication and rapport with team members and stakeholders.
- Ability to promptly assess and react to business incidents or events.
- Ability to clearly identify and articulate relevant legal questions and concerns.
- Solutions-oriented and commercially minded.
- Adept at learning quickly from others.
- Able to exercise sound intuition and act in a leadership capacity to drive projects and inspire others.
