About the Role

An opportunity to join Western Union as a Counsel in Business Legal Affairs and play a key role in helping a NYSE listed organization navigate commercial and corporate law by supporting strategic initiatives and business operations across Asia Pacific (APAC).

Responsibilities

  • Provide primary responsibility for certain workstreams and support other team members.
  • Manage day-to-day legal matters for business in specific countries or territories.
  • Act as legal lead on distinct projects.
  • Manage legal aspects of interactions with third parties, including regulators.
  • Provide legal support to other stakeholders and functions across the region.
  • Deliver timely and commercial legal and regulatory support for BAU operations and new initiatives.
  • Partner with business leaders to execute company strategic priorities.
  • Review, draft, and negotiate agreements for Western Union Consumer Money Transfer, Payments, and Digital.
  • Provide legal advice in connection with agreement reviews, drafting, and negotiations.
  • Review and advise on new and existing business requirements.
  • Drive end-to-end customer value.
  • Display a customer-first orientation.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of financial services experience in an international law firm or corporate legal department of a multi-national corporation.
  • Good communication and rapport with team members and stakeholders.
  • Ability to promptly assess and react to business incidents or events.
  • Ability to clearly identify and articulate relevant legal questions and concerns.
  • Solutions-oriented and commercially minded.
  • Adept at learning quickly from others.
  • Able to exercise sound intuition and act in a leadership capacity to drive projects and inspire others.
