About the Role
This challenging role involves designing and engineering software with a primary focus on the customer or user experience. You will collaborate with architects to define the business-wide target architecture and roadmap, gaining senior stakeholder exposure and honing your technical and leadership skills.
Responsibilities
- Deliver modern software development tools chain for engineers across the bank, protecting them from development and delivery complexities.
- Lead significant, complex, and technically challenging assignments, coordinating multiple feature teams to ensure technical journeys support target realization and deliver investor-valued metrics.
- Define, create, and provide oversight and governance of engineering and design solutions focusing on end-to-end automation, simplification, resilience, security, performance, scalability, and reusability.
- Drive reliability, automation, and scalability across developer platforms (GitLab, Artifactory, Ansible Automation Platform) for over 25,000 colleagues.
- Play a key role in building a world-class developer experience by ensuring systems are robust, efficient, and easy to use.
- Define and develop architecture models and roadmaps for application and software components to meet business and technical requirements, driving common usability across products and domains.
- Collaborate with platform engineering teams, platform architects, and partners (GitLab, Red Hat) to shape CI/CD strategy, observability stack, and automation frameworks.
- Provide expertise in Kubernetes, GitLab, ArgoCD/Flux, and cloud-native technologies to enhance platform reliability and performance.
Requirements
- Significant experience in software engineering, software or database design and architecture.
- Experience developing software within a DevOps and Agile framework.
- Expert understanding of the latest market trends, technologies, and tools.
- Significant and demonstrable experience implementing programming best practices, especially around scalability, automation, virtualization, optimization, availability, and performance.
- Strong background in leading software development, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), or platform engineering teams in a matrix structure, introducing and executing technical strategies.
- Significant and demonstrable experience with test-driven development, automated test frameworks, monitoring, observability, and automation practices.
- Background in designing or implementing APIs and highly available, resilient services.
- Ability to rapidly and effectively understand and translate product, business, operational, and reliability requirements into technical solutions.
- Background working with code repositories, bug tracking tools, wikis, and observability platforms.
