About the Role

Texas Oncology is seeking a PET Technologist to support the Mesquite location. This role can be filled at a Level 1, 2, or Senior level based on the candidate's experience. Texas Oncology is a leading community oncology provider dedicated to delivering high-quality, accessible cancer care.

Responsibilities

• Performs PET imaging procedures and related functions.
• Collaborates with Medical Director and management on technical issues, equipment performance, and QA.
• Supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program.
• Performs diagnostic PET imaging procedures, including injection of radiopharmaceuticals and/or IV contrast, administration of oral contrast, protocol setup, patient positioning, reconstruction and filming of images, network image transfers, and archiving of image data.
• Assists in procedure scheduling and related front office functions.
• Ensures accuracy of patient demographic information, report distribution, and patient files.
• Assists with the collection of clinical data for patient follow-up and educational information development.
• Provides protection for patient and self according to safety standards.
• Conducts daily quality control measures to monitor scanner performance.
• Reports all malfunctions and/or need for service to the appropriate personnel.
• Manages patient data and films, including printing, archiving, retrieval, network data transfers, and tracking of loaned and requested films.
• Understands contraindications for IV contrast administration, recognizes potential reactions, and knows the procedure to follow in case of a reaction.
• Orders necessary office, medical, printing, and archiving supplies.

Requirements

• Level 1: Associates or Bachelors degree in Nuclear Medicine Technology or from an AMA accredited program, or Associates or Bachelors degree in Radiologic Technology from an AMA accredited program and PET.
• Level 1: Minimum three to five years of experience in nuclear medicine and/or previous PET experience preferred.
• Level 1: General knowledge of patient scheduling and billing systems.
• Level 1: CNMT (Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist) and/or ARRT (N) certification and state licensure where applicable.
• Level 2: Minimum five years of experience in nuclear medicine, including at least two years of previous PET or nuclear medical experience.
• Level Sr: Bachelors degree in Nuclear Medicine Technology, Radiologic Technology, or from an AMA accredited program.
• Level Sr: Minimum four years of nuclear medical PET experience.
• Competency in being customer-focused, emphasizing quality, and demonstrating teamwork/collaboration.
• Ability to perform tasks requiring full range of body motion, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
• Ability to lift and carry items up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to lift and push patients in wheelchairs/stretchers up to 300 pounds.
• Ability to reach above shoulder height.
• Ability to sit/stand for extensive periods.
• Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
