About the Role

Manage technical, schedule, quality, and financial aspects of Power and Energy Substation and/or Transmission Line engineering projects. Develop client relationships and market WSP’s Power Delivery services, particularly in the South and Southwest Region.

Responsibilities

  • Provide PM leadership for high voltage and EHV Substation and/or Transmission Line engineering projects, overseeing design, budgets, forecasts, margins, and KPIs.
  • Monitor external events and risk contingencies to ensure satisfactory performance.
  • Manage contractual obligations to deliver projects as defined in the contract and client expectations.
  • Develop and foster strategies to engage project stakeholders and maintain effective relationships.
  • Report on project progress, including monthly status, safety incidents, and major issues with scope and budget impacts.
  • Provide guidance with pursuit/initiation activities, including Go/No-Go decisions, contract reviews, risk mitigation, and pricing.
  • Lead contract negotiations and client presentations.
  • Drive technical reviews, select qualified staff, and ensure adherence to the QA/QC plan.
  • Provide inputs to multi-disciplinary project teams and offer strategic advice to clients.
  • Manage and provide performance guidance to assigned staff.
  • Ensure updates to system and process documentation, including Risk, Project Management Plan, Quality Plan, Safety Plan, and Communications Plan.
  • Lead project kick-off meetings with key stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with managers to address project resource and subcontracting requirements.
  • Oversee problem project reviews, identify root cause issues, and assist with developing recovery plans.
  • Provide regular project reporting and updates to clients, technical areas, and business unit managers.
  • Complete formal project closeout activities and facilitate lessons-learned meetings.
  • Collaborate with professionals from various disciplines to provide trusted advisor services and future-ready solutions.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field within the Power & Energy Market.
  • 12 years of relevant post-education experience in a project management role within the Power Delivery/Utility Industry.
  • Minimum of 5 years applicable industry experience working with or providing engineering services for IOUs, IPPs, Co-Ops, Munis, or Construction Contractors.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience leading engineering and/or construction teams on medium to large electrical utility scale clients for high voltage and/or extra high voltage substation and/or transmission line projects.
  • Knowledge and experience with project management processes and tools, including Contract Management, Team Meeting Management, Earned Value Management, Change Management, Risk Management, Schedule Management (Primavera P6 or equivalent), and Financial Management.
  • Highly proficient understanding of project delivery process within the Power Delivery/Utility industry.
  • Strong background and experience in project management.
  • Advanced proficiency with analytical and organizational skills, with business acumen.
  • Advanced proficiency with critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Advanced proficiency with interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Excellent self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and adaptability.
  • Ability to work independently and provide guidance and leadership to team members.
  • Advanced proficiency with technical writing, office automation, and MS Office suite products.
  • Ability to elicit cooperation from a wide variety of sources.
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety.
  • Ability to adapt to change and demonstrate flexibility to various schedules and hours.
  • Occasional travel is required.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.
