About the Role

This position contributes to academic excellence and strategic development at Gisma University of Applied Sciences through high-quality teaching, impactful research, and community participation. The role involves shaping and delivering innovative programmes in HR Analytics, Strategic Talent Management, and Work Innovation, focusing on data-driven workforce planning, digital employee experience platforms, and organizational network analysis. It offers engagement with an international student body, collaboration with industry and research partners, and influence over human resources education in a quantitative, technological environment.

Responsibilities

  • Module responsibility and teaching of Bachelor and Master programmes, particularly in E-Commerce Strategy, Digital Platform Economics, Marketplace Management, Digital Consumer Behaviour, and multi-sided platform optimization.
  • Examination, assessments, and student supervision.
  • Active participation in programme development, quality assurance, and integration of applied tools and methodologies.
  • Design and continuous update of contemporary teaching and learning materials.
  • Initiate, expand, and maintain cooperation with industry and research partners, particularly in e-commerce marketplaces, digital platform tech firms, digital marketing agencies, and retail-tech innovations.
  • Participation in national and international accreditation procedures.
  • Active engagement in academic administration and committee work.
  • Further development of a personal and institutional research profile in E-Commerce Business Models, Platform Governance and Regulation, Network Effects, or Digital Market Microeconomics.
  • Publication of research results in high-quality journals and engagement in public dissemination.
  • Support outreach activities, including student recruitment events and promotion of related business study pathways.

Requirements

  • Fulfil all requirements according to Section 41 ff of the Brandenburg Higher Education Act (BbgHG).
  • Completed university studies in a relevant discipline such as E-Commerce, Digital Business, Economics with a focus on industrial/platform organization, Digital Marketing, or Business Information Systems.
  • Proof of extraordinary qualification for scientific work in the form of an outstanding doctorate and/or a strong record of high-impact, peer-reviewed publications.
  • A minimum of three years of qualified professional experience, including at least two years outside a university environment, gained after a master's degree or equivalent.
  • Proven university-level teaching experience, with competence in blended, online, and interactive learning methodologies.
  • Student evaluations should reflect excellent pedagogical aptitude.
  • A strong affinity for cutting-edge methodologies, software, and tools, specifically related to e-commerce engine architectures, platform management platforms, conversion optimization tools, and web traffic analytics engines.
  • Fluency in English for teaching and research purposes.
  • A publication record in fields matching the professorship scope or relevant digital ecosystems.
  • Experience in developing and leading research projects, ideally with success in acquiring third-party funding.
  • Innovative perspectives for advancing research and curriculum in the specified professorship domain.
  • Experience in curriculum development and accreditation processes is an asset.
