About the Role

As our Staff Application Security Engineer, you'll be the specialist behind application and product security for a platform of autonomous agents that plan, decide and act on behalf of enterprise customers. This is a new threat surface where established AppSec playbooks apply but require adaptation for unique challenges like prompt injection and agent containment. Enterprises won't hand real work to agents they can't trust, making security a key product differentiator. This is a specialist individual contributor role reporting to the Head of Engineering, with no direct reports.

Responsibilities

Migrate access control to the new model and close any gaps.
Secure the product surface, including authentication, authorization, API security, input/output handling, and supply-chain risk.
Build guardrails for safe agent actions, including permissions, attribution, sandboxing, tool-use limits, and prompt-injection defense.
Establish least-privilege access across production, making the secure path the fast path.
Develop autonomous security agents to continuously scan the platform and code, assisting with remediation.

Requirements

A strong perspective on agentic security and its implications.
Deep application security expertise on a production platform, covering authentication, authorization, secure design and review, and supply-chain risk.
A hands-on approach to problem-solving and implementation.
Systems thinking capabilities to design and analyze end-to-end autonomous systems.
Familiarity with TypeScript, AWS, MCP, and AI engineering fundamentals (tool use, context, evals).
Comfort and willingness to build with AI agents.
