About the Role
We are seeking an Engineering Site Lead to help build and anchor Marble's engineering presence as we scale our AI-first tax platform. This role involves hands-on technical work, leading engineers, and shaping the culture, operating rhythm, and hiring bar for the team. You will own complex systems and help engineers perform at their best, acting as a technical leader, onboarding new engineers, creating feedback loops, and modeling expected standards of ownership and execution. You will collaborate with the Founder, Head of Product and Engineering, and founding team to define our engineering build, hiring, and operational strategies.
Responsibilities
- Lead and help build Marble's engineering presence, setting the tone for technical quality, ownership, and team culture.
- Serve as a technical leader for engineers, helping unblock work, mentor teammates, and raise the bar.
- Lead a team of engineers across one or more product areas, setting direction, unblocking work, and raising the bar.
- Own complex, enterprise-scale technical problems end to end, from architecture decisions to production.
- Partner with the Founder, Head of Product and Engineering, and founding team to define engineering processes, hiring standards, and team structure.
- Create strong collaboration loops between engineering teams.
- Drive technical decisions across the stack with a bias for pragmatism and long-term scalability.
- Actively recruit, onboard, and develop engineers on the team.
- Work directly with product and founders to translate business needs into a technical roadmap.
Requirements
- 10+ years of engineering experience with a track record of leading or managing high-performing teams.
- Experience owning complex, enterprise-grade technical systems end to end.
- Strong full-stack background with depth in TypeScript, Node.js, and React.
- Experience helping build or scale an engineering team, office, or local engineering hub.
- Strong communication and leadership presence, especially in cross-office or distributed team environments.
- Comfort being the senior technical voice in a growing office while still staying close to the code.
- Comfortable operating in fast-moving, ambiguous environments where problems are not yet defined.
- Low-ego, high-ownership mindset; lead by doing, not by delegating.
- Experience building AI or agentic products.
- Background in tax, legal, fintech, or another highly regulated domain.
- Experience scaling an engineering team from small to mid-size.
- Experience building a strong engineering culture across multiple offices or locations.
