About the Role

Support the execution of the Marine Cargo business plan by assisting underwriting teams, developing underwriting skills, and managing existing accounts while identifying new business opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Handle renewals and write new business within underwriting authority to contribute to business plan achievement.
• Establish and build relationships with brokers, clients, reinsurers, and Lloyds.
• Identify new business and cross-sell opportunities to promote business development.
• Support the preparation of the business plan and other required documentation.
• Ensure accurate entry of policy aggregate information and maintain syndicate records and files.
• Validate USMs and SCMs daily.
• Prepare and report figures and statistics for the business unit or team account.
• Monitor and control business operations as directed by Underwriters.
• Liaise with and assist the claims department in claim settlements.
• Comply with all applicable legal and regulatory requirements.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Demonstrated understanding of business objectives and market.
• Intellectual curiosity.

• Strong understanding of risk management and governance framework.
• Underwriting discipline with 12+ months in an Underwriting Assistant capacity.

• Ability to promote own profile and CNA Hardy to brokers and clients.
• Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Effective communication and rapport-building skills.
