About the Role

This role focuses on support services functions, including dietary, environmental services, facilities, repair, maintenance, parking, and transportation, to ensure timely completion and adherence to quality standards. It involves performing environmental services duties, researching environmental effects of activities, and developing methods to minimize environmental damage. This is a technical, experienced-level role requiring vocational education, training, and experience, working under moderate supervision with some deviation from standard procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures linen is flowing to patient areas, including receiving, distribution, restocking, and pickup of soiled linen.
  • Completes assigned rounds for linen pickups and par level checks.
  • Ensures all areas are clean, clear, and neatly stocked with daily supplies.
  • Assists in workflow efficiency by documenting all activities in the department database.
  • Conducts inventory of stocked and stored items specific to the area.
  • Maintains collaborative team relationships to achieve goals and foster a positive work environment.
  • Delivers and picks up General Service supplies throughout the hospital campus.
  • Provides continuous flexibility and backup functions to respond to variations in patient volume and maximize resource efficiency.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to read and write in English.
  • Ability to understand written and verbal instructions and provide follow-through.
  • Computer and keyboard skills for basic data entry.
  • Knowledge of computer systems and software with the ability to learn new applications.
  • Familiarity with a wide variety of medical equipment/supplies and their intended uses.
  • Sufficient communication and interpersonal skills for effective relationships with patients, families, staff, and vendors.
  • Physical ability to stand, walk, and bend for the majority of the shift.
  • Physical ability to lift medium weight (60 lbs.) and push 300 lbs. on wheels (40% of the shift).
  • Ability to use protective attire when working with soiled linen and potentially unclean patient equipment or hazardous materials.
