About the Role

The Assistant Manager will oversee the ongoing management of the Filmmaker Lounge, an event space, ensuring guests have the best possible experience during the festival. This role involves managing staff, volunteers, and vendors, and coordinating events and activations within the space.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Filmmaker Lounge.
  • Manage daily Lounge lists and special access to the venue.
  • Act as the 'Host' of the Filmmaker Lounge, greeting and engaging with guests.
  • Liaise with restaurant management to ensure the space is clean, service is prompt, and events meet partner and NYFF Standards.
  • Train, schedule, and manage volunteers and special staff for space operations.
  • Create and track inventory for donated product and sponsor materials.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Events and Coordinator, Events for seamless integration of the Lounge with the venue.
  • Participate in planning meetings and walkthroughs leading up to the festival.
  • Provide daily reports on venue status during the festival.
  • Establish and maintain standards for Filmmaker Lounge operations and activations during NYFF.
  • Work with the venue’s catering services team on special F&B requests, estimates, and invoices.
  • Coordinate special activations and events in the Filmmaker Lounge.
  • Attend volunteer manager training sessions and participate in planning and team assessments.
  • Create and submit a seasonal staff wrap report.

Requirements

  • Must be comfortable working independently and as part of a larger team.
  • Ability to work late nights, evenings, and weekends during the festival.
  • Staff are expected to report onsite during the festival.

Skills

  • Event and hospitality experience
  • Professional, friendly, and welcoming demeanor, attire
  • Proficiency with databases and event management software (Zkipster, Wordfly, Eventival)
  • Comfortable with Google Suite (Gmail, Google Docs, Sheets, Forms)
