About the Role

We are seeking an organized and proactive Materials Librarian to manage and enhance our firm's materials library. This role is crucial for supporting designers by maintaining a well-curated collection and sourcing specific materials, acting as a strategic design resource through close collaboration with design teams and vendors.

Responsibilities

  • Proactively source and introduce new, relevant materials to the firm.
  • Maintain and update the materials library, including auditing and removing discontinued or outdated samples.
  • Organize and re-file materials weekly to ensure the library is clear, intuitive, and easy to use.
  • Assist designers with sourcing specific materials for active projects.
  • Assemble client-facing sample packages and coordinate vendor sample packages for projects in progress.
  • Coordinate and schedule vendor presentations and material reviews for the design team.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with vendor representatives and showrooms.
  • Track new samples and manage incoming and outgoing materials.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of interior design and architectural materials and vendor networks.
  • Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Self-starter who can work independently and take ownership of the materials library.
  • Comfortable communicating with designers, vendors, and showroom representatives.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) and Adobe InDesign.
  • Prior experience in a design studio, showroom, or materials library preferred.
