About the Role

The Campus Safety Officer is the primary point of contact for individuals accessing Goucher’s campus, responsible for maintaining safety and security through access control. This role requires working various shifts, including evenings, nights, holidays, and weekends, with potential for overtime. Officers must be prepared for all weather conditions and be available at all hours to ensure continuous campus operation.

Responsibilities

• Greet and assist guests and visitors, providing friendly and informative assistance.
• Monitor and enforce access control procedures for authorized personnel and visitors.
• Log all visitors entering and leaving the campus, accurately recording necessary details.
• Maintain a vigilant presence, observing surroundings and promptly addressing security concerns or breaches.
• Monitor CCTV systems to oversee campus activities, traffic, and identify suspicious behavior or incidents.
• Communicate effectively via radio with security team members and relevant personnel.
• Communicate and maintain good relationships with faculty, staff, students, other law enforcement agencies, and public officials.
• Check emails and other communication channels regularly for updates.
• Prepare and submit detailed reports on incidents, property damage, and security-related matters.
• Support student worker program by training and working alongside individuals for events and activities.
• Manage security at high-profile and campus-wide events, ensuring attendee safety.
• Coordinate with event staff and monitor activities during events.
• Perform building watch duties.
• Oversee access control during events.
• Manage crowds during events.
• Address security concerns during events.

Requirements

• Must obtain and maintain a valid Maryland Security Guard Certification.
• Must possess a valid driver's license.
• Must be able to provide proof of eligibility to work in the USA.
