About the Role
Carnegie Hall seeks a Public Relations Coordinator to provide administrative support to the Public Relations team, manage the Cision system, build digital press releases, coordinate media lists, collect coverage, and prepare press clip reports. This role also involves supporting Weill Music Institute programs, assisting with special projects, and performing press duties at concerts and events.
Responsibilities
- Provide general office support to the Public Relations team.
- Serve as Cision system administrator, building digital press releases, coordinating media contact lists, and collecting coverage.
- Prepare weekly press clip reports.
- Coordinate electronic press release mailings, including HTML coding.
- Support select Weill Music Institute programs by drafting press releases and pitch plans.
- Assist with special projects as needed.
- Perform press duties, including escorting photographers/video crews and staffing concerts and events.
- Provide departmental phone coverage.
- Assist with external and intradepartmental information requests.
- Maintain departmental subscriptions.
- Complete paste-ups and scans of key articles and prepare special coverage reports.
- Maintain media websites (Carnegie Hall and Carnegie Hall+) to keep them updated.
- Prepare chronological concert listings for monthly press calendars.
- Participate in promotional work for Carnegie Hall’s national youth ensembles, supporting photography, social media, and media research.
- Coordinate departmental systems for computers, phones, supplies, mail, and office files.
- Plan for occasional assembly/mailing of hard press kits.
- Assist with press ticketing for concerts/events.
- Provide back-up support for PR work with rental clients.
- Proofread materials for the team.
- Help with photo tagging projects.
- Participate in planning for season announcements and other major events.
- Work concert duty, handing out press tickets and working with photographers and videographers.
- Work press duty during the day (rehearsals) as assigned, accompanying approved cameras in concert venues and the Resnick Education Wing.
Requirements
- Minimum 1–2 years of professional experience in public relations, communications, journalism, arts administration, or a related field.
- Must be available to work some evenings and weekends.
