About the Role

This role involves performing a wide range of administrative, training, reporting, and personnel management functions for the day-to-day operations of a supervised residential facility for individuals with mental illness. The goal is to create a healing environment that respects the perspectives and experiences of individuals, families, staff, and the community.

Responsibilities

  • Provide ongoing leadership in accordance with an annual work plan.
  • Develop methods to ensure quality service delivery, including restorative service plans and timely billing.
  • Monitor resident progress and respond to emergencies and grievances promptly.
  • Review program documentation and generate necessary reports, correspondence, and records.
  • Manage expenses according to organizational guidelines.
  • Identify and resolve problems that may hinder service delivery.
  • Supervise the planning and implementation of recreational, educational, and cultural activities.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.
  • Develop and maintain an inventory of furnishings, equipment, supplies, and food within budget.
  • Conduct routine site inspections.
  • Transport clients to appointments as needed.
  • Recommend residence maintenance needs.
  • Ensure prompt resolution of crises or hazardous situations.
  • Provide daily support and supervision to direct care staff, including orientation, training, and development needs assessment.
  • Prepare staff schedules, interview, and hire new staff.
  • Provide regular, constructive feedback and conduct performance reviews.
  • Offer guidance and support through participation in the supervisor on-call rotation.
  • Actively participate in organization, department, team, case conference, and treatment/admissions/discharge planning meetings.
  • Assist in developing an annual work plan with the Program Director, incorporating organizational and department goals.

Requirements

  • Possession of a bachelor's degree in human services or a related field and three years of relevant experience, OR an associate's degree in human services or a related field and five years of relevant experience.
  • Supervisory experience preferred.
  • Valid NYS Driver's License.
  • Extensive knowledge of mental health issues and the psychiatric rehabilitation model.
  • Knowledge of psychology, personality, and group dynamics.
  • Knowledge of the human services system.
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of conflict and crisis management.
  • Knowledge of adult learning and motivation.
  • Knowledge of employee supervision.
  • Knowledge of household and business management.

  • Proficiency with contemporary office equipment, including computers with word processing, database, and report-generating software.
  • Ability to research and access appropriate auxiliary services.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with diverse individuals.
