About the Role
We are seeking a strategic, collaborative, and hands-on Business Intelligence Manager to lead our growing BI team. In this role, you will oversee the execution and delivery of high-impact reporting projects, drive platform governance, and supervise a team of BI analysts. You will play a pivotal part in translating complex business requirements into scalable reporting solutions and ensuring data accuracy across our retail operations. The ideal candidate has a strong background in data visualization, a passion for mentoring technical talent, and a deep understanding of retail business performance. You will serve as a key partner to senior business leaders, helping them translate complex data structures into intuitive visual narratives that drive strategic growth.
Responsibilities
- Mentor a team of BI analysts, fostering an environment of collaboration, high performance, and continuous technical growth.
- Manage the team's project planning and day-to-day workflow, effectively balancing long-term project deliverables with operational support and ad-hoc requests.
- Lead the design and delivery of our next generation of BI dashboards and reporting solutions, setting new standards for user experience, performance, and visual storytelling.
- Define and govern key performance indicators (KPIs) across the business to maintain consistent reporting metrics across all departments.
- Enforce rigorous quality assurance standards into the team's development process.
- Establish protocols to improve the zero-error rate.
- Champion front-end design, UI/UX, and performance optimization standards across the team to maximize dashboard speed, readability, and overall user adoption.
- Drive innovation within the BI stack by evaluating and recommending new tools and technologies that will enhance our analytical capabilities and efficiency.
- Serve as the primary, trusted go-to resource for the Senior Leadership Team for unbiased, fact-based analysis and recommended actions.
- Rapidly respond to high-priority business inquiries, consolidating complex findings into concise, executive-ready briefs that guide strategic decision-making.
- Translate complex technical details and data performance trends into clear, executive-ready presentations, delivering insights with high business context.
- Partner with cross-functional business leaders to gather requirements, scope deliverables, and translate strategic goals into technical roadmaps.
- Partner with Analytics and Data Science teams, advising on how predictive models and advanced metrics can be effectively integrated into standard reports.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Business Analytics, Computer Science or a similar quantitative/quantitative-business field.
- 5–7+ years of hands-on experience in Business Intelligence, Data Analytics, or a similar analytical field.
- At least 2+ years in a leadership or people-management role.
- Strong preference for candidates with omnichannel retail industry experience and a solid understanding of retail performance metrics.
- Proven expertise in governing and scaling enterprise-level BI platforms.
- MicroStrategy or Looker is highly preferred, Power BI or Tableau is an acceptable alternative.
- Expert-level SQL skills for querying, data profiling, and verifying backend data structures.
- Strong understanding of cloud data warehouse environments (e.g., Snowflake or BigQuery) to effectively collaborate with Data Engineering teams.
- Familiarity with scripting languages such as Python, JavaScript (Google Apps Script), or VBA to supervise workflow automation, rapid report generation tools, or lightweight programmatic delivery systems (such as generating dynamic CSS/HTML reports).
- Expert-level knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets.
- Proven ability to build, mentor, and inspire a technical team, encouraging professional development and keeping engagement.
- Display deep intellectual curiosity, creativity, and a commitment to learning to solve critical business problems and push the boundaries of our capabilities.
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills; ability to easily explain technical BI architectures to non-technical business partners and influence strategic decisions.
