About the Role

The AIML Privacy and Regulatory Compliance (PaRC) team leads privacy and regulatory compliance across AIML, partnering closely with various teams to shape the direction of software features, models, and platforms. This role involves setting and driving a data strategy across AIML that balances business needs with user privacy and legal commitments.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with engineering, data science, legal, and privacy teams to set and drive a data strategy across AIML.
  • Ensure Apple maintains user privacy and legal commitments.
  • Create a data taxonomy and inventory across AIML, including data used for training models.
  • Understand data availability and usage across Apple and the ecosystem.
  • Work with data scientists, researchers, and engineers to set data-driven decisions.
  • Codify data collection and usage rules into guidelines and standards with the Compliance and Policies team.
  • Serve as the authoritative source for understanding data flows and usage across AIML.
  • Focus on setting data-driven decisions that empower the business.
  • Work with software engineers to build infrastructure for rules-based data collection and use practices.
  • Set the requirements and vision for AIML.

Requirements

  • 15+ years of experience in privacy, compliance, and/or data governance.
  • Proven ability to lead large, complex, and ambiguous cross-functional technical programs.
  • Experience setting data collection and use practices.
  • Experience designing infrastructure to provide rules-based processing controls.
  • Strong understanding of privacy, competition, and AI regulations, including CCPA, GDPR, DMA, and the EU AI Act.
  • Exceptional written and presentation skills.
  • Ability to communicate clearly to both engineers and lawyers, up to and including Senior Vice Presidents.
  • Experience in compliance, public policy, data privacy, or machine learning.
  • Track record of bridging technical and legal perspectives.
  • Demonstrated ability to ramp up quickly on new technologies.
  • Ability to navigate a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Strong relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to work effectively across functions, levels, and disciplines.
  • Proven track record of managing ambiguity and complexity.
  • Proven track record of sustaining compliance at scale.
