About the Role
The Strategic Fibre Sales Director will develop and execute Boldyn Networks' fibre growth strategy, commercialising the London Underground Fibre Network and other fibre infrastructure investments. This role involves leading commercialisation efforts, creating market demand, building customer relationships, securing anchor customers, establishing wholesale partnerships, and influencing future network investments. It operates at the intersection of Commercial, Product, Engineering, Finance, and Operations to deliver the Underground Fibre Strategy and create a scalable growth platform.
Responsibilities
- Own and execute Boldyn's Underground Fibre commercialisation strategy.
- Develop and maintain short, medium, and long-term fibre growth plans.
- Identify, qualify, and prioritise opportunities across target market segments.
- Build robust revenue forecasts, business plans, and investment cases.
- Develop clear go-to-market strategies for Dark Fibre, Wavelength Services, Data Centre Interconnect (DCI), Lit Fibre Services, and Strategic Connectivity and Diversity Solutions.
- Collaborate with Product and Engineering teams to translate infrastructure capabilities into repeatable commercial propositions.
- Create demand for Boldyn's fibre infrastructure through targeted market engagement.
- Build market awareness of Boldyn's unique underground and transport infrastructure assets.
- Establish Boldyn as a recognised provider within London's data centre, wholesale connectivity, and digital infrastructure ecosystem.
- Identify emerging market trends across AI Infrastructure, Hyperscale Cloud Growth, Data Centre Expansion, Public Sector Connectivity, Network Resilience, and Route Diversity.
- Develop and manage a portfolio of high-value strategic opportunities.
- Secure anchor customers capable of supporting future network investment and expansion.
- Lead complex sales engagements from opportunity creation through to contract execution.
- Build executive-level relationships across customer organisations.
- Develop account strategies for priority customers and target sectors.
- Develop and maintain relationships with strategic fibre, infrastructure, and wholesale partners.
- Build indirect sales and channel routes to market.
- Structure partnership frameworks which maximise utilisation whilst protecting long-term infrastructure value.
- Identify opportunities for wholesale agreements, revenue share models, strategic alliances, joint commercial propositions, and co-investment opportunities.
- Manage senior stakeholder relationships with partner organisations.
- Provide commercial input into future network investment decisions.
- Influence route prioritisation through customer demand and opportunity creation.
- Support business case development for future network expansion initiatives.
- Ensure infrastructure investment is aligned with commercial opportunity and long-term strategic value.
- Act as the commercial lead for Boldyn's fibre business.
- Build internal understanding of market opportunities and commercial priorities.
- Support development of future fibre sales, partner management, and business development capability.
- Maintain effective governance, reporting, and forecasting of commercial performance.
- Ensure compliance with Boldyn commercial, governance, and risk management processes.
Requirements
- Strong background in infrastructure sales, with demonstrable experience selling telecoms, connectivity, fibre, or digital infrastructure solutions.
- Experience within the fibre and wholesale markets, including exposure to wholesale network services, dark fibre, DCI, and wavelength solutions.
- Commercially astute, with strong negotiation and deal structuring capabilities, particularly within complex or long-term infrastructure agreements.
- Proven track record of winning and delivering complex sales opportunities, managing multi-stakeholder engagements from identification through to contract close.
- Experience engaging and influencing C-level stakeholders, building strategic relationships and navigating complex decision-making environments.
- Good understanding of the data centre and hyperscale ecosystem, including key market drivers, customer requirements, and connectivity challenges.
- Ability to identify market opportunities and drive revenue growth, leveraging industry knowledge and existing networks where applicable.
- Strong relationship-building and stakeholder management skills, both internally and externally.
