About the Role

The Lead Teaching Assistant contributes to the mission of the Center for Disability Services and Children's Services division by taking a lead role in assisting the teacher and therapists with carrying out activities designed to address goals as outlined in the students' Individualized Educational Programs (IEPs).

Responsibilities

  • Leading a classroom in the teacher's absence
  • Entering IEP Direct data
  • Daily classroom preparation
  • Assisting the teacher with activities designed to address student's needs as outlined on their Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
  • Preparing classroom materials
  • Direct instruction of students
  • Custodial care of students

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of job-related experience, specifically in working with children or individuals with disabilities

Skills

  • Current New York State Teaching Assistant Certification

Work Type

  • 10 month program
  • mandatory six week summer program

Experience Level

  • At least 2 years

Education Level

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Current New York State Teaching Assistant Certification

Salary/Compensations

  • $21.67 - $23.94
