About the Role
The Lead Teaching Assistant contributes to the mission of the Center for Disability Services and Children's Services division by taking a lead role in assisting the teacher and therapists with carrying out activities designed to address goals as outlined in the students' Individualized Educational Programs (IEPs).
Responsibilities
- Leading a classroom in the teacher's absence
- Entering IEP Direct data
- Daily classroom preparation
- Assisting the teacher with activities designed to address student's needs as outlined on their Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
- Preparing classroom materials
- Direct instruction of students
- Custodial care of students
Requirements
- At least 2 years of job-related experience, specifically in working with children or individuals with disabilities
Skills
- Current New York State Teaching Assistant Certification
Work Type
- 10 month program
- mandatory six week summer program
Experience Level
- At least 2 years
Education Level
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Current New York State Teaching Assistant Certification
Salary/Compensations
- $21.67 - $23.94
