About the Role

Responsibilities

  • Report to the Shift Foreman and communicate matters related to running Semi-automatic and Automatic rewind lines.
  • Read and follow Shift notes pertaining to the product being run.
  • Verify product identification tags correspond with the product being produced.
  • Set up and string up the production line.
  • Change dies and butt weld breaks.
  • Control net weight, cast, pitch, surface material, and physical appearance according to specification.
  • Check and record outside diameter as required.
  • Wind electrode into spools.
  • Secure the start end of each coil, spool, reel, or drum.
  • Clear and secure the inside end of each Electrode Product when required.
  • Label, bag, box, and palletize finished production.
  • Identify each carton and Electrode Product with the appropriate identification and operator code.
  • Maximize production line productivity.
  • Change parts and correct problems before they affect product quality.
  • Submit product samples to Quality Assurance for evaluation.
  • Follow Permission Notes and Special Order Instructions.
  • Supply the line with necessary packaging materials.
  • Report mechanical or electrical problems to the appropriate personnel.
  • Review, understand, and follow departmental procedures, specifications, and plant rules.
  • Abide by and support Environmental Health & Safety policies and procedures.
  • Participate in the company's GPMP and Merit Rating System.
  • Actively participate in meetings for teamwork, communication, and cooperation.
  • Contribute to company profitability by implementing continuous improvement strategies.
  • Conduct general duties, specific projects, and responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent experience required.
  • Ability to read, write, and perform general math to keep job-related records.
  • Ability to understand and interpret job-related specifications and procedures.
  • Self-motivated, safety and quality conscious, requiring minimal supervision.
  • Mechanically inclined.
  • Able to lift up to 60 pounds.
  • Able to visually recognize and distinguish different color codes.
  • Able to work well as part of a team and get along with people.
  • Excellent attendance record.
