About the Role

Performs maintenance services, installation, or repairs in skill areas such as plumbing, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, carpentry, painting, or vehicle servicing. This role involves routine and preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and facility repair within an operations environment.

Responsibilities

  • Performs routine and preventative maintenance, lubrication, and minor adjustments on machines and related equipment.
  • Reports operational problems with machines or equipment to Lead or Supervisor.
  • Inspects and troubleshoots mechanical issues to determine necessary repairs.
  • Dismantles equipment, repairs defective parts using tools, and reassembles/tests equipment.
  • Troubleshoots hydraulic, pneumatic, and electronic equipment and instrumentation.
  • Performs facility maintenance and repair, including replacing light bulbs, windows, doors, and painting.
  • Performs manual labor, cleans equipment, facilities, and grounds, and disposes of waste properly.
  • Operates vehicles for plant operational purposes.
  • Estimates time and material costs for projects.
  • Assists in other plant areas as directed.
  • Performs a variety of manual functions following established procedures.
  • Adheres to operational, maintenance, safety, and emergency response procedures.
  • Uses initiative for recurring assignments and waits for direction for new assignments.
  • Keeps supervisor informed of problems.
  • May suggest process improvements.

Requirements

  • High School or GED with the ability to read, write, and comprehend English.
  • Ability to carry out verbal and written instructions.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in a related position.
  • Ability to comprehend specifications, blueprints, and manuals.
  • Experience using powers, pneumatic, hydraulic, and hand tools.
  • Experience using shop tools such as drill press, band saw, bench grinder, and torque wrench is preferred.
  • Experience using material handling equipment, pressure gauges, and precision measuring instruments.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
  • Must have the ability to operate Computer Maintenance System (software).
  • Must consistently demonstrate the ability to learn and independently perform assigned duties.
  • Must meet or exceed production and quality goals.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to work in a team environment.
  • Willingness to assume additional or new responsibilities readily.
  • Some vocational training and mechanical aptitude preferred.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and record data from meters, gauges, panels, computer consoles, and other equipment.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and a safe driving record.
  • Must become proficient in the care and use of all site-specific, facility-required PPE.
  • Forklift Certification if required by site.
  • Works toward increasing skills in additional functional areas or obtaining advanced skills/maintenance certifications.
  • May perform more advanced functions as part of training and development.
  • Requires close visual and hearing observation.
  • Constantly uses hands to finger, handle or feel and frequently reaches with hands and arms.
  • Works in various positions, including at heights up to 50 feet.
  • Works with hands extended above and below head and body up to 40 minutes using hand tools weighing up to 15 pounds.
  • Must be able to lift and carry 50 pounds for distances of 10 feet.
  • Occasional stooping, bending, or kneeling and entering confined spaces.
