About the Role
Provides clinical and clerical support to assure smooth daily department operations in an assigned medical practice. Ensures the patient and examination area are properly prepared.
Responsibilities
- Greets and escorts patients, ensuring proper identification and performing clinical intake activities.
- Transcribes and updates patient information, including demographic, medication, social, and medical history.
- Provides clerical and secretarial support, preparing patient charts and assisting with paperwork.
- Performs and stays current with EMR Orders Reconciliation.
- Maintains cleanliness and stocking of examination areas and performs environmental rounds.
- Prepares patients for visits to maintain timely patient flow, ensuring necessary supplies and materials are available.
- Conducts in-office testing and coordinates ancillary services.
- Collects, prepares, and processes specimens, logging results and reconciling them in patient records.
- Contacts patients for follow-up, test results, or clinician instructions.
- Maintains inventory and ensures proper upkeep, cleaning, and testing of medical equipment and supplies.
- Communicates and documents electronic messages effectively.
- Assists in training new staff.
- Demonstrates and maintains practice-based competencies for in-office clinical procedures.
- Fulfills all compliance responsibilities.
- Maintains and models organizational values.
- Demonstrates regular, dependable, and predictable attendance.
- Performs other duties as required within the scope of practice.
Requirements
- High School diploma/GED
- 1-year Medical Assistant experience OR new graduate of Medical Assistant program OR Nursing Assistant training program OR EMT certification OR 3 years job-related experience in a medical office.
- Reliable transportation
- Basic medical knowledge and terminology.
- Data entry required.
- BLS Certification required within 30 days.
- Ability to travel between practices as needed.
Skills
- Skilled in obtaining accurate patient vital signs.
- Ability to communicate and document electronic messages effectively.
