About the Role
We are seeking a Computer Vision/Machine Learning Engineering Manager to lead the CV/ML team responsible for our autonomous gun turret's real-time drone detection, tracking, and classification capabilities. This role begins as a player-coach position, involving direct contributions to the CV/ML stack while managing and developing the team. As the team grows, the focus will shift more towards management and technical review. You will collaborate with Chief Engineers and the VP of AI to shape and execute the CV/ML technical roadmap, translating product objectives into team plans and delivery commitments for a military-grade system.
Responsibilities
- Manage and grow a CV/ML team, including leading existing engineers, hiring across all levels, and fostering career and technical development.
- Partner with Chief Engineers and VP of AI to define the CV/ML technical roadmap and ensure its execution by the team.
- Translate product and company goals into quarterly team plans, priorities, and staffing decisions.
- Contribute to the development and optimization of computer vision algorithms for real-time drone detection, tracking, and classification.
- Own delivery commitments for the CV/ML stack and coordinate integration milestones with other engineering teams.
- Drive engineering quality through design and code reviews, and rigorous testing and validation practices.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in machine-learning-based computer vision and traditional image/signal processing, preferably in robotics.
- Proven track record of deploying CV systems in real-time or safety-critical applications.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field with a strong focus on ML and CV.
- Experience managing or tech-leading a CV/ML engineering team.
- Demonstrated success in owning a technical roadmap or planning process for a perception or autonomy product area.
