About the Role

BDO's National Business Resilience Team is seeking a Senior Consultant, Risk Advisory to provide crisis management guidance and services to clients across various sectors. This new role involves contributing to business development activities and delivering high-quality consulting services with an all-hazard and integrated crisis management approach.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality consulting services with an all-hazard and integrated crisis management approach, covering risk analyses, audits, emergency preparedness, response, business impact analysis, continuity, IT disaster recovery, crisis communication, briefings, training, and testing.
  • Build and deliver strategic and operational solutions to align client requirements, objectives, and needs.
  • Engage all levels of employees and stakeholders in the crisis management solution.
  • Transfer knowledge, ensure project management success, and lead client engagements.
  • Build lasting relationships and develop business with new clients, while maintaining relationships with existing clients.
  • Contribute to achieving agreed-upon goals for targeted industry sectors.
  • Participate in the evolution of BDO’s intellectual capital for the practice.
  • Develop business continuity plans, including business impact analyses (BIAs), business continuity plan (BCP) development, and tabletop exercises.

Requirements

  • University diploma, preferably in risk management, emergency management, business administration, or a related field.
  • Background in military, police, or fire services (any critical services).
  • A minimum of 3 to 5 years as a consultant or with relevant experience.
  • A minimum of 3 to 5 years in one or a combination of the targeted industries: Energy & Natural Resources, Financial Services, Public Sector, Manufacturing & Distribution, Not-For-Profit, and Real Estate.
  • Knowledge of risk analysis, emergency preparedness and response, and business continuity approaches, standards, and regulations.
  • Bilingual in French and English is an asset.
  • Ability to obtain Government of Canada security clearance.
  • Verifiable track record in targeted industries, including relationship building.
  • Professional designation (ABCP, CBCP, MBCI, or equivalent) preferred; candidates actively working toward a designation will be considered.
  • Membership in risk management, emergency management, and/or business continuity organizations is an asset.
  • Candidates with transferable backgrounds such as military, policing, or public safety are encouraged to apply.
  • Strong writing skills for client deliverables (reports, plans, procedures).
  • Familiarity with business continuity and crisis management frameworks, including DRI International Professional Practices, BCI Good Practice Guidelines, and tabletop exercise design and facilitation.
  • Comfort working independently and managing multiple concurrent engagements.
