About the Role

The Peer Advisor is a core member of the Hub team, utilizing lived experience to support young people navigating complex systems. This role involves welcoming youth, co-facilitating career exploration, supporting transitions, and serving as a trusted presence, embodying the Hub's 'No Eject, No Reject' philosophy.

Responsibilities

• Greet and welcome young people, setting a warm and nonjudgmental tone.
• Conduct light outreach to connect community youth to Hub services.
• Co-facilitate Virtual Reality career exploration sessions using Transfr headsets.
• Support facilitation of the Career Readiness Certificate Program, including resume workshops and mock interviews.
• Assist with cohort-based programs (Transfr Trek and Mesa Alumni Lab), encouraging participation.
• Help create a comfortable environment for risk-taking and honest sharing in programming.
• Accompany young people to external programs and partner organizations to ease transitions.
• Follow up with young people after referrals to check in and offer encouragement.
• Help young people feel welcome returning to The Door after leaving a program or opportunity.
• Participate in or support the paid Youth Advisory Council activities.
• Share insights from daily interactions to inform continuous improvement of Hub programming.
• Contribute to staff meetings, team reflections, and learning conversations.
• Assist with intake, tracking attendance, documenting participant interactions, and data entry.
• Complete required trainings, including trauma-informed care and youth development best practices.

Requirements

• Must be between 18 and 26 years old.
• Must have lived experience navigating systems such as workforce programs, alternative education, foster care, the justice system, housing instability, or immigration.
• Must be reliable and committed to consistent attendance.
• Must be comfortable in a fast-paced, open-door environment.
• Must be committed to working with young people navigating complex circumstances with empathy, respect, and without judgment.
