About the Role
Vantage Data Centers is seeking a Senior Automation Design Engineer to drive the next generation of secure, scalable automation solutions across its rapidly expanding EMEA platform. This role focuses on design authority, architecture, technical governance, and innovation, influencing automation standards and collaborating with industry-leading vendors on hyperscale data centre developments.
Responsibilities
- Support automation design from early concept through to detailed delivery
- Develop and maintain secure, scalable automation architectures
- Review consultant designs and provide technical guidance
- Design and improve OT networking solutions
- Support automation standards and ensure designs align with emerging technologies and cybersecurity requirements
- Troubleshoot complex automation issues on live sites
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams across EMEA
- Drive continuous improvement, innovation, and engineering best practice
- Produce high-quality technical documentation and design deliverables
- Develop and test PLC and SCADA Code Libraries
Requirements
- Experience in Automation & Control Systems
- Experience with SCADA platforms (Ignition experience highly advantageous)
- Experience with PLC platforms such as Rockwell ControlLogix or CompactLogix
- Experience in Industrial automation design and control systems
- Experience with EPMS or power monitoring systems
- Experience with OT Networking & Cybersecurity
- Solid understanding of industrial networking technologies including Cisco or Stratix, Fortinet or Juniper networking
- Understanding of VLANs, routing and network redundancy
- Understanding of Industrial firewalls
- Understanding of OT Cybersecurity principles including IEC62443
- Understanding of Industrial communication protocols including Modbus TCP/IP, MQTT and OPC
- Understanding of Network architecture including Purdue Model, CPwE and DMZ design
- Experience producing or reviewing technical documentation such as Control system architectures, Network diagrams, IO Lists, Cable schedules, Instrumentation documentation, Control panel and IO system design
