About the Role
The Regional Sales Manager (RSM) will lead and provide strategic direction for Commercial Sales, focusing on sales strategies, productivity, training, and effectiveness to achieve performance targets and budgeted sales goals. This role involves direct management, development, and supervision of assigned Territory Managers, ensuring their effective and compliant implementation of processes within their local geography.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement Regional business plans, budgets, and action plans.
- Review performance metrics with the National Sales Director to ensure maximum sales results.
- Plan and conduct meetings with the Sales Team, developing and inspiring them.
- Collaborate with leadership and Market Access to maximize reimbursement from commercial & government payers.
- Create and manage Regional plans including message, reach, frequency, and budget goals.
- Evaluate account management performance against budget for cost-effective resource allocation and appropriate management reporting.
- Spend three to four days per week in the field working with assigned Territory Managers, completing Field Coaching Reports.
- Hold office hours on days out of the field.
- Complete all training and policy requirements on time.
- Ensure all actions and those of the team comply with laws, regulations, policies, and Company values.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree preferred; experience in sales management in the pharmaceutical industry may be substituted.
- 8+ years of Pharmaceutical Sales experience preferred; equivalent medical sales experience may be substituted.
- 3+ years sales management experience in a U.S. pharmaceutical or biopharmaceutical organization preferred.
- 2+ years’ experience in Cardiology (Statin, PCSK9, and NOAC) launch experience preferred.
- Proven track record of success in launching new products and/or indications and building sales teams.
- Well-developed leadership skills and the ability to influence people at all levels.
- Demonstrated track record of successfully commercializing new products and/or expanding commercial opportunities.
- Ability to set priorities, allocate resources, take accountability, and achieve results.
- Proven ability to forge strong, diverse teams and create a highly motivated cross-functional team environment.
- Demonstrated excellent presentation and communication skills.
- Proven ability to influence and work successfully with varied audiences.
- Excellent verbal and written English communications skills.
- Must live within the assigned region.
- Up to 50% - 60% travel required, including overnight stays.
