About the Role

Atelier Ten is seeking an exceptional leader to drive the growth, performance, and strategic direction of its UK MEP practice. This business-critical role involves expanding the multidisciplinary offering, strengthening market presence, and growing a market-leading MEP team that complements sustainability and environmental design expertise. The position combines business development, operational leadership, people management, technical oversight, and strategic planning.

Responsibilities

Lead and implement the growth strategy for the MEP business across the UK market.
Build and maintain strong relationships with developers, architects, asset owners, contractors, and industry partners.
Drive business development activities, identify opportunities, lead pursuits, and secure new projects.
Act as executive sponsor and director-in-charge on key client commissions.
Provide technical leadership and oversight across major multidisciplinary projects.
Grow, mentor, and develop a high-performing MEP team.
Collaborate with Atelier Ten's sustainability, environmental design, and specialist engineering practices.
Support recruitment, succession planning, and capability development across the business.
Lead resource planning, utilisation, and financial performance to ensure sustainable business growth.
Represent Atelier Ten through industry events, conferences, thought leadership, and professional networks.
Contribute to business strategy, operational planning, and the long-term growth of the practice.
Engage with other SJ Group companies on joint initiatives around business growth and technical development.

Requirements

Proven leadership experience within building services or MEP engineering consultancy.
Strong track record of leading and growing engineering teams.
Established relationships across the UK property, developer, architect, contractor, and institutional sectors.
Proven success in winning major projects and developing long-term client partnerships.
Experience managing business performance, resources, and profitability.
Strong leadership skills with a passion for mentoring and developing future talent.
Chartered Engineer status and membership of a relevant professional institution.
Deep technical expertise in building services engineering and sustainable design.
Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to represent the business internally and externally and influence at senior levels.
A collaborative leadership style and enthusiasm for working in a multidisciplinary environment.
Entrepreneurial, passionate about sustainable design, and skilled in business development.
A self-starter with positive energy and the ability to build trust.
