About the Role
As a part of the CVIMU at Southwest, you will provide care for a mixed-acuity of patients who are recovering from post-surgical cardiothoracic procedures such as CABG, MVR, and AVR. Nurses on this unit manage non-titratable cardiac drips and care management utilizing telemetry monitoring. This unit has 29 beds, rapid patient turnover, a 4-5:1 patient ratio, and holds cath lab, preop and post op patients. The role is ideal for someone willing to grow into ICU experience, with orientation lasting 6 weeks to 3 months. Self-scheduling and every other weekend work are available.
Responsibilities
- Collaborates with interdisciplinary team in the delivery of patient care, utilizing the nursing process.
- Provides professional nursing care to patients.
- Conducts nursing assessments.
- Assists with exams and treatment.
- Provides patient education.
- Maintains medical records.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited School of Professional Nursing.
- Current State of Texas license or temporary/compact license to practice professional nursing.
- Certified in Basic Life Support.
- Additional certifications may be required based on discipline and/or nursing unit requirements.
