About the Role

We are seeking a driven and consultative Business Development Consultant to manage the full new business sales cycle with SME clients. You will advise HR leaders, Finance Directors, and C-Suite stakeholders on setting up Salary Sacrifice schemes that benefit employees and businesses. This role involves working on inbound leads and strategic outbound prospecting within a fast-paced, motivated team focused on increasing EV adoption.

Responsibilities

  • Own the full sales cycle from prospecting to close, managing a pipeline of inbound leads alongside targeted outbound activity.
  • Run high-impact pitches and product demonstrations for SME stakeholders, HR Directors, CFOs, and C-Suite executives, tailored to their specific business context.
  • Keep pipeline clean and up to date in CRM, with a clear view of deal progression.
  • Work closely with the Customer Success team to ensure smooth handovers and strong client activation post-sale.
  • Feed insights from the frontline back to Product and Marketing to shape proposition evolution.
  • Represent Octopus EV at industry events, exhibitions, and with partners, promoting EVs and Salary Sacrifice.
  • Utilize an uncapped OTE and opportunities to directly influence earnings.

Requirements

  • 3+ years in a B2B new business sales role, with a proven track record of consistently hitting or exceeding targets.
  • Experience selling to senior SME stakeholders, Directors, CFOs, HR, Finance, or Reward Managers, rapidly building rapport.
  • Ability to explain complex financial or tax-based products (such as Salary Sacrifice) clearly to a non-specialist audience.
  • Familiarity with structured sales methodologies (MEDDICC, Challenger, SPIN, BANT, or similar).
  • Consultative approach: listen first, diagnose second, pitch third.
  • Comfortable operating independently in a fast-moving environment, proactively managing pipeline with minimal oversight.
  • Genuine interest in electric vehicles, sustainability, or the energy transition.
