About the Role

Apartment Therapy Media is seeking a Director, Insights to lead research and insights across its brands. This role involves transforming audience data into revenue by driving thought leadership, identifying market opportunities, and developing custom research and insights initiatives. You will build data-backed rationales for sales pitches and shape brand storytelling across client touchpoints.

Responsibilities

  • Own Apartment Therapy Media's thought leadership roadmap, including custom research, white papers, and webinars.
  • Identify emerging consumer, cultural, and industry trends and translate them into audience narratives.
  • Enable the revenue team by building data-backed campaign rationales for RFP responses and sales pitches.
  • Develop Apartment Therapy Media's brand narrative into sellable formats for client-facing materials.
  • Work with clients and vendors to execute, analyze, and summarize brand lift studies.
  • Lead the development and analysis of reader surveys and related sales materials using tools like Survey Monkey.
  • Manage and grow Apartment Therapy Media's Home Team reader panel.
  • Own relationships with research vendors (Nielsen, DISQO, Collective Audience) and manage the research budget.
  • Collaborate with Content and Product teams on audience research for special projects.
  • Work with SVP, Marketing & Brand Strategy on insights efforts for long-term growth.

Requirements

  • 8-10+ years of experience in consumer insights, audience research, or sales research, preferably within media or publishing.
  • Proven experience developing thought leadership programs.
  • Strong storytelling skills with the ability to translate complex data into compelling narratives.
  • Experience supporting revenue-driving organizations.
  • Expertise with syndicated research tools and audience measurement platforms (e.g., Nielsen, DISQO, or similar).
  • Experience designing, fielding, and analyzing quantitative and qualitative consumer research.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify emerging consumer and cultural trends and translate them into actionable business opportunities.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with experience creating client-facing decks and reports.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Proficiency with Keynote, Google Workspace, and survey platforms such as SurveyMonkey.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • Genuine affinity for home, design, food, and lifestyle content is a plus.
