About the Role

Responsibilities
- Contribute to the development and refinement of programs and initiatives
- Prepare the daily activities providing physical, cognitive and emotional enjoyment
- Support in assessing residents' interests, needs, and progress
- Maintain accurate records of programs and resident involvement in accordance with departmental guidelines
- Provide regular updates on resident participation and feedback to the Team Leader
- Foster social interaction among residents by leading designated activities or special events
- Assist new residents in getting acquainted with the facility and its recreation program, facilitating introductions to other residents, and encouraging conversation and social engagement among them
Requirements
- A post-secondary diploma or degree in recreation and leisure studies, therapeutic recreation, kinesiology, gerontology or other related field from an indigenous Institute, private career college, college of applied arts and technology, another degree granting Institution or equivalent work experience working with seniors
- Experience in working with seniors including an understanding of motivation concepts with seniors
- Understanding of leisure principles
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada or have a valid work permit
- Must successfully pass a Vulnerable Sector Check and/or Criminal Record Check applicable to the appropriate province
