About the Role
SANY is seeking a Special Education Teacher (Grades 3-6) for Citizenship Academy of Rochester for the 2026-2027 academic year. This role is ideal for both new and experienced teachers.
Responsibilities
- Provide engaging lesson plans that conform to the charter's curriculum.
- Collaborate with staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods.
- Prepare students for standardized tests relevant to the content area.
- Utilize analytics and data to drive instruction and promote learning.
- Receive regular feedback and embrace accountability.
- Serve students and communities effectively.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master's degree preferred.
- NYS Students with Disabilities or SPED certification required.
- Experience with diverse student populations or in an urban setting is a plus.
- Prior teaching experience preferred; novice teachers are encouraged to apply.
- Fingerprint clearance through NYS Department of Education.
- Possess a growth mindset, flexibility, and comfort with change.
- Be intrinsically motivated and compassionate.
- Have a strong conviction that all students can succeed.
- Demonstrate the ability to receive feedback and implement it promptly.
- Be comfortable with the use of data and analytics to drive instruction and promote learning.
