About the Role

SANY is seeking a Special Education Teacher (Grades 3-6) for Citizenship Academy of Rochester for the 2026-2027 academic year. This role is ideal for both new and experienced teachers.

Responsibilities

• Provide engaging lesson plans that conform to the charter's curriculum.
• Collaborate with staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods.
• Prepare students for standardized tests relevant to the content area.
• Utilize analytics and data to drive instruction and promote learning.
• Receive regular feedback and embrace accountability.
• Serve students and communities effectively.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree required; Master's degree preferred.
• NYS Students with Disabilities or SPED certification required.
• Experience with diverse student populations or in an urban setting is a plus.
• Prior teaching experience preferred; novice teachers are encouraged to apply.
• Fingerprint clearance through NYS Department of Education.
• Possess a growth mindset, flexibility, and comfort with change.
• Be intrinsically motivated and compassionate.
• Have a strong conviction that all students can succeed.
• Demonstrate the ability to receive feedback and implement it promptly.
• Be comfortable with the use of data and analytics to drive instruction and promote learning.
