About the Role
Performs mechanical, civil, and structural construction, maintenance, and repair work on project features including reservoirs, concrete dams, powerhouses, and associated structures and buildings. This role involves working with marine equipment and all fixed or movable machinery, requiring expertise in various trades.
Responsibilities
- Performs mechanical, civil, and structural construction, maintenance, and repair work on project features.
- Works with marine equipment and all fixed or movable machinery.
- Calculates dimensions and tolerances using mathematics and instruments.
- Machines parts to specifications using machine tools.
- Sets up, adjusts, and operates basic and specialized machine tools for precision machining.
- Diagnoses machine malfunctions and determines repair needs by observing and listening to operating equipment.
- Sets up and operates metalworking, brazing, heat-treating, welding, and cutting equipment.
- Cleans and lubricates machines, tools, and equipment.
Requirements
- Must have completed a formal apprenticeship in the machinist discipline.
- Must have 4 years of working experience at the journeyperson level in the machinist discipline.
- Must be able to perform mechanical maintenance within a hydroelectric power plant.
