About the Role

Block-by-Block California employs Ambassadors to make public spaces friendlier, safer, and cleaner. This role is ideal for outgoing and friendly individuals who enjoy working outdoors and interacting with people. It's also a great opportunity for retirees, veterans, and graduating high school seniors.

Responsibilities

• Patrol the assigned zone on foot and/or bike as a deterrent and be on the lookout for unwanted behavior and activity.
• Provide information, assistance, and directions to pedestrians and visitors, maintaining a positive, professional demeanor.
• Observe and report unwanted behaviors or criminal activity to local authorities, providing accurate descriptions.
• Firmly and courteously request compliance from individuals violating low-level quality-of-life offenses.
• Actively engage pedestrians with a friendly greeting to provide directions and city information.
• Visit zone businesses to share information and gather contact details.
• Complete basic daily reports of tasks performed.

Requirements

• Hospitality Experience required.
• CA Guard Card
• High School Diploma or GED
• At least 18 years of age.
• Physical capacity to walk or traverse (including riding a bike) continuously during an eight-hour shift with breaks.
• Ability to work outdoors in all conditions.
• Proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing the English language for report completion.
